Getting started · guide 01

Your node is ready. Now set up Keeper.

All guides

FSSP handles your household, seats and billing. Your passwords live in Keeper — a separate, zero-knowledge vault only your family can open. This walks each member through it once, in about ten minutes. Anything beyond this — migration, integrations, extra seats — we do for you; just ask from Support.

Do this

Once per member

Step 01 · Create the account

Open your Keeper invitation and create your account

Each covered member gets an invitation at the email on their FSSP household record — use that same address so the seat matches your node.

Write the master password down once, offline. Support can re-send an invitation and fix billing — we cannot open your vault.

Step 02 · Sign in

Sign in to the Web Vault

Go to keepersecurity.com/vault and sign in with your email + master password. On your own device, enable Touch ID / Windows Hello afterwards so you rarely type it.

Step 03 · Secure it

Turn on two-factor authentication

Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication. An authenticator app (TOTP) is recommended; SMS works if that's all you have. Add a second method so you're never locked out.

Step 04 · Protect your data

Accept the account transfer policy

Your household licence is a managed Keeper account. Keeper's zero-knowledge design means only you can open your vault — not Keeper, not Simple Technologies, not your household admin. The account transfer policy is the one exception, and it exists for your protection: it lets your vault be transferred to your designated Keeper administrator if you're ever locked out, lose access, or the account must be recovered.

Because no one can bypass your master password, this policy is the only way your data can be preserved if something goes wrong. We strongly recommend accepting it.

Warning

If you decline or fail to accept the transfer policy, your vault data may be permanently lost if you lose account access. Simple Technologies and your Keeper administrator may be unable to recover it.

Step 05 · Bring passwords in

Import what you already have

Settings → Import pulls in a browser export or another manager — Chrome, 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden and more. Import first, then clean up.

Moving a large or messy set? Send it to us — data migration is something we handle for you, including de-duplication and folders.

Step 06 · Autofill

Install KeeperFill in your browser

The browser extension fills logins, offers to save new ones, and generates strong replacements as you go. Install it in every browser each member uses.

Step 07 · Replace weak passwords

Generate strong passwords as you go

Don't fix everything at once. Each time you sign in somewhere, let Keeper generate a new password and save it. Start with email, banking and anything shared.

Step 08 · Share safely

Set up your household shared folders

Shared folders are how a family shares streaming, utilities and the wifi password without texting them around. On a business licence this is the sharing model (Emergency Access is a personal-account feature and isn't available here).

Step 09 · Take it with you

Install the app on every phone

iOS and Android both autofill system-wide once biometric unlock is on. This is the step families skip and then abandon the vault — do it before you close this guide.

Common questions

Is my Keeper password the same as my FSSP sign-in?

No — and it shouldn't be. FSSP signs you in by emailed link or passkey; Keeper uses a master password only you know.

Do I pay Keeper separately?

No. Your seat is billed through FSSP on one household invoice.

Someone didn't get an invitation.

Household → resend invite, or ask us and we'll provision the seat directly.

Can you do this for us?

Yes. Custom configuration, migration and adding members are hands-on services — just ask from Support.

Keeper holds your secrets. FSSP holds your account.

Passwords, folders, sharing and 2FA live in Keeper. Seats, plan changes, invoices and receipts live here in FSSP.
